The Pope Ancestors
The surname Pope is a nickname for someone with an austere, ascetic appearance. My Pope ancestors came from Langtoft, Lincolnshire.

Ann was born in 1816 at Langtoft, Lincolnshire to parents James and Elizabeth Pope. She married William Robinson on 4th November 1834 at Langtoft, Lincolnshire. In 1838 Ann gave birth to their first child, George, followed by a daughter, Elizabeth (1840), then Susan (1844), Ann (1846), William (1848), James Pope (1851), and John (1855). In 1847 they suffered the loss of their daughter, Ann, aged 1 year. Sadly, in 1853 James also died, aged only 2 years. Ann continued to live in Langtoft after William's death in 1869, living at her son, George's house by 1881. Ann died in March 1892, aged 75 years. She was buried at Langtoft on 2nd April.
